Diagnostic tests play an integral role in the detection, treatment and monitoring of cancer, and there are a range of different tests and scans that are available.
The Cancer Alliance works closely with providers of diagnostic tests and scans within our region to understand waiting times, capacity and new approaches to testing which may affect diagnosis.

Within the Cancer Alliance we have specific workstreams to focus on areas where diagnostic tests can improve early detection of cancers for our population and by making tests more accessible to anyone who cannot easily get to a hospital.
Diagnostics may include the following tests amongst many others:
- Blood tests
- X-rays
- Endoscopy
- CT scans
- MRI scans
- Ultrasound scans
- Breast screening
- Tests to diagnose bowel cancer
