The work of the Cancer Alliance is overseen by the Cancer Alliance Programme Board, which meets every two months.
Our Board draws together leaders from different clinical and managerial disciplines working across the West Yorkshire and Harrogate area, who can scrutinise the work taking place and, working collaboratively, hold each other and the leadership team to account. This includes lay members who advocate for the patient and public voice.
Joint Senior Responsible Officers (SROs) for the cancer programme are Neil Smurthwaite, Chief Operating Officer of the local Integrated Care Board, NHS Calderdale Cares and Phil Wood, CEO of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Our Board operates on an advisory basis for transformation activities, using a consensus-based model to bring local partners together to transform outcomes.
As a Cancer Alliance, we are an integral part of the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) and work closely with the Humber and North Yorkshire ICB as Harrogate is included in our regional catchment area. We also work closely the NHS England National Cancer Programme Team.
