Forthcoming Events and Conferences

Cascade is a free event aimed at cancer leads working in primary and secondary care. Previous attendees have included GP cancer leads, secondary care clinicians involved in developing cancer pathways, cancer trust managers, commissioners and cancer planners. Events provide the opportunity for idea development, supporting change and innovation. Sessions are interactive and include a mix of expert presentations and group discussion.

There is also an opportunity for networking and sharing best practice from local implementation work.

The next event is in York on 1 October, 9:30am-4pm (registration and networking from 9am).

Sessions include:

  • Lung recognition and referral, including lung health checks – Mat Callister, consultant respiratory physician at Leeds Teaching Hospital will be joined by Steve Bradley, academic GP for a look at diagnostic test accuracy and appropriate use, what gets missed and lung health checks
  • Colorectal Cancer pathways - Michael Machesney, chair of NHS England colorectal cancer clinical reference group, will be leading a session on colorectal cancer optimal pathways. This session will include presentations on roll out of symptomatic FIT from a GP lead and a consultant clinical biochemist, followed by a panel discussion / Q&A and an opportunity to discuss challenges and learning from CRC optimal pathway work in your areas.
